‘Use Signal’ tweeted Elon Musk on January 7th, 2021. Little did anyone know that these two words of his would cause a huge impact for not one but two different platforms. First being Signal Technology Foundation and the second one you will read about it later in the blog.
Signal is a messaging app similar to WhatsApp. But earlier this year when WhatsApp’s privacy policy was being questioned our twitter king Mr. Musk tweeted about this company which immediately led to a surge of new users to the app so much so that verification services of the app were down for certain providers. On Jan 11, Signal app was downloaded 1.3 million times. Before Musk’s tweet signal only saw 50,000 downloads per day.
2. Clubhouse Media Group
Just a few days ago on February 1, 2021, Elon Musk tweeted ‘On Clubhouse at 10 am LA time’. Who knew this tweet will cause a huge confusion and benefit a completely different company than what Musk meant.
Clubhouse media group is a China-based company which provides social media content creation. This company saw a sudden increase in their stocks after Elon Musk tweeted about clubhouse audio app. The catch here is that both of these companies are completely unrelated and the app he originally tweeted about saw not much of a gain in its download. Clubhouse Media’s stocks CMGR rallied at about 45% on the day Musk tweeted. ‘The Musk effect’ is no child’s play.
3. Signal Advance
Here it is! The other company that benefited out of Elon Musk’s Signal tweet was Signal Advance Inc. Investors invested in this company after mistaking it for what musk had said. The same day Signal Advance also saw a huge soar in its stocks. Its stock price saw an increase of 12 folds which is the highest the company has registered yet. The stocks which were trading for 60 cents reached the price of 7 dollars 19 cents after the tweet.
Signal Advance is a biotechnology company founded in the year 1992 in Texas, United States. This only goes to show how much of an influence the world’s richest man has in the business world.
4. Etsy
Etsy’s stocks skyrocketed to 8.6% making an intraday record after Elon Musk tweeted ‘I kinda love Etsy’ on January 27, 2021. Apparently, he bought a gift for his dog from the website. To this, he also added he had bought a ‘Hand-knit wool Marvin the Martian Helm’.
Many small artists start their businesses on Etsy. They sell handcrafted products and many other interesting articles on the website. Etsy is known to support small businesses and all the people having their businesses on there must be thanking the billionaire for his tweet.
5. GameStop
GameStop Corp is an American video game, consumer electronics, and gaming merchandise retailer. It was founded in 1984 with its headquarters in Texas, United States. It also owns EB Games Australia, EB Games, Micromania Zing.
On January 27, 2021 musk tweeted ‘Gamestonk!!’ and things took a turn for the better for this company. That same day Gamestops shares soared to 157%. Just because of Musk’s tweet Senvest management made an investment of $700 million in GameStops’s shares.

Cryptocurrency is replacing physical forms of money. The most popular of these cryptocurrencies is Bitcoin. Bitcoin is an open-source software started by an anonymous source who goes by the name of Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009. Although bitcoin is valued highly in today’s time Musk’s social media power managed to make it even more valuable.
